D.R.A.W. Academy (Level 1)

The D.R.A.W. ACADEMY (Level 1) course offered by PRP are designed to teach more advanced concepts and practices as relates to real-world, defensive handgun situations.

  • Recommended for: Beginner to Advanced Shooters
  • Prerequisites: None. We do recommend the student take our Handgun Fundamentals course prior to enrolling.
  • Number of students: 5-8
  • Class Length: Varies per session  (See below)
  • Location: You will be notifed of location upon registration.
  • Date and Time: Choose one of our pre-scheduled sessions, or contact us for private classes
  • Investment: The course is divided into THREE separate classes/sessions. Classes must be taken in order, and can be registered for one class at a time.

Session One: Mastering The Handgun                                 $195     (6 hours)

Overview

The D.R.A.W. ACADEMY (Level 1) course will guide you through the information and skills you will need to handle a real life defensive incident. This course takes students from just sending rounds downrange to actually training in specific, tested methods of armed self-defense.

From stance to grip to physical shooting technique, the D.R.A.W. ACADEMY (Level 1) course will help you hone the edge on your inner warrior expert. You will train to get your body working with the gun instead of against it. You will learn which intuitive skills work best with what the body will naturally do while under stress in a combat situation, and you will learn to apply this information simply and effectively, regardless of student skill level.


Your ONLINE Training Portal: (A Vital Part of Your Overall Training Program)

The course is divided into TWO separate classes/sessions. Classes must be taken in order, and can be registered for one class at a time.

When you have register for Session One, you will receive access to our state-of-the-art LMS (learning management system) which contains the D.R.A.W. ACADEMY (Level 1) course home study and dry-practice drills, a VITAL part of your overall training program. This online training program sells separately for $147 by itself.

As you attend each session in the course, you will receive homework and drill assignments from your instructor that you can complete AT HOME, on your local range, and on your own. This is entirely possible because of our courses use of and partnership with the BarrelBlok Training and Safety Device


Course/Session Details:

 

Session One: Mastering The Handgun

In this session, we explain the science behind D.R.A.W., how the body works when interfacing with a handgun, and begin laying the foundations for fast, accurate, and consistent shooting.

 

Session Two: Mastering Reloading and Malfunctions

In this session, we look at how to safely and efficiently reload your firearm and stay "in the fight", AND deal with Failure-to-fire situations and various kinds of malfunctions. This training will help you master the art of managing your handgun and surviving the fight. Whether in a static position or in dynamic movement, keeping your gun running is critical.

 

Participant equipment requirements:

- Pistol minimum calibers - .380 or 9mm.
- At least three magazines
- Strong side holster and magazine holders
- Clothing appropriate for significant range work
 

Other Notes:

This course is for new shooters and experienced shooters alike. However, the more comfortable you are with your weapon, the more you will get out of the course. Though not required, we suggest that new shooters have attended the NRA Basic Pistol or USCCA Basic Handgun courses (or similar ones), prior to taking these courses.
